Avril Lavigne has revealed that she is engaged to Mod Sun. The singer said on Instagram that another artist Sun, whose true name is Derek Ryan Smith, proposed to her on March 27 in Paris.
The couple has been dating since February 2021, after meeting while working on a song together. Sun proposed during a latest trip to the Eiffel Tower. “Oui! Je t’aime pour toujours,” Lavigne captioned a black-and-white photo of the pair on her Instagram account. Which translates as ‘’Yes! I love you forever.”
Mod Sun’s “most beautiful, romantic proposal,” according to the pop-punk singer. She explained, “We were in Paris on a boat in the Seine River. We had a violin player, champagne, and roses. It felt like time stood still, and it was just the two of us in the moment.
“I look forward to having fun, creating, working together, touring together, growing together. It feels good to have someone who can help celebrate the good times, hold you through the tough ones, and be there for all the moments in between,” she added.
Lavigne flaunted her distinctive heart-shaped engagement ring while wearing vivid orange nails. Lavigne described why the ring is so special in an interview with People. It was designed expressly for the moment by jewellers XIV Karats in Los Angeles.”He knew from the very beginning I wanted a heart-shaped diamond because on the day we met, we had matching heart-shaped paved rings on. We’ve worn them every day since, so it’s only fitting to have a heart-shaped engagement ring,” she said.
The underside of the bracelet is etched with the couple’s names as well as Sun’s first words to Lavigne, “Hi icon.”
