Afro Nation Portugal 2022 is the world’s first Afrobeats Dancehall and Hip Hop festival to take place in Portimão from 1 to 3 July. The location will be Praia da Rocha, a beautiful beach with pristine coastlines that makes for perfect vacationing weather all year round. Visitors can enjoy performances by artists such as Wizkid, Davido, D’Banj, or Fuse ODG among many others.

Afro Nation Portugal is an annual Afrobeats, hip-hop, dancehall, and R&B festival held on the beautiful Praia da Rocha beach. With artists from all over Europe performing live music in a family-friendly environment with spectacular views of Portimão’s coastline; this event has become one of southern Algarve’s most anticipated events since it started back in 2006.
Elation fills the air as Afro Nation is back in Portugal, leaving the dark winter days behind for a weekend of sun.
After having postponed two consecutive weekends, this year’s edition promises to be one that will keep you coming back again and again with unbelievable artists from all around Africa performing on stage together! There are so many things happening at once that it may have been better if we had stayed home but what fun would our social media feeds have then?
The Algarve is a stunning destination for those who love to bask in the sun and enjoy golden sand beaches. Afro Nation Portugal 2022 Tickets come with two different types of admission – general and VIP. To get the best tickets, it’s important to book them early because when we’re closer to the event date, prices might be higher too.

Afro Nation Portugal 2022 Lineup
With less than two months until the start of Afro Nation Portugal 2022, fans are eagerly anticipating which artists will be featured on the lineup. Though information about who is coming to town has yet to be revealed, organizers have promised that there will be plenty more surprises in store for festival-goers this year and can’t wait for everyone’s reaction when they find out what it’ll entail.
How do I get to the Afro Nation in Portugal?
- By Plane: The Faro airport is the closest to the festival grounds. From there, you can walk into town and catch a train up to Portimão.
- By Train: Many people enjoy the train ride to Portimão. The port town is connected directly by rail, as well as via Faro and Lagos. Wherever you’re coming from in Portugal or elsewhere, there’s a way for you to take this relaxing trip with ease.
- By Bus: Portimão’s bus routes are a great way to get around. You can visit major cities with ease and not worry about stress or traffic jams. Portimôn has plenty of transportation options for its residents, including buses that run between Lagos, Faro, Lisbon, and Seville as well as smaller destinations.
Is re-entry allowed?
Afro Nation is a cultural hub where you can find modern day African-Americans as well. You’ll be able to explore and immerse yourself in different cultures, whether it’s through an artist showcase or when taking part in workshops on hair care techniques for natural hair.
Afro nation was founded by Abby J Johnson who wanted to create a space that combined multi-generational aspects of the black culture which includes history, arts, food & fashion with contemporary realities like education (looking into how we pass down traditions), technological advances within our community such as apps that help us navigate life/work balance between work and family etc.
Is there camping?
You’ll need to make arrangements for your stay at the Afro Nation Festival. Do you plan on camping? No, there will be no campsites available during the festival so you’ll have to find somewhere else to set up camp while staying in Johannesburg with us.
