From Composers to Performers and Back Again

Old Dominion was initially conceived as a platform for the members’ songwriting abilities. Hit songs written by lead singer Matthew Ramsey have been recorded by The Band Perry, Sam Hunt, Dierks Bentley, and Kenny Chesney, among others. In addition to penning songs for Kenny Chesney, Michael Ray, Josh Turner, Ryan Hurd, Brandon Lay, and the television show Nashville, lead guitarist Brad Tursi is responsible for the composition of songs such as “Light it Up” by Luke Bryan and “A Guy Walks Into a Bar” by Tyler Farr. Trevor Rosen, a musician who plays multiple instruments, has written songs for many artists, including Kelsea Ballerini, William Michael Morgan, Chris Young, and Blake Shelton. Together with bassist Geoff Sprung and drummer Whit Sellers, these three gentlemen came together in October 2014 to record an EP under their name, which Shane McAnally produced. Meat and Candy was Old Dominion’s first album to be certified gold and was released on November 6, 2015. The Band currently has six tracks that have reached number one on the charts, and in 2016, they were awarded the ACM New Vocal Group of the Year award. On the Happy Endings, World Tour that Old Dominion headlined in 2018, supporting acts included Michael Ray, Granger Smith, and High Valley. More than 80 cities across the United States and Europe will be visited by the Make It Sweet tour in 2019.
