The BWF Tour’s Indonesian leg came to an end last week with the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open; the Malaysia Open will now serve as the focal point of the action in Malaysia. The BWF Super 750 competition, which will begin on June 28th, is expected to draw elite athletes from around the globe. After a two-year absence because of Covid-19, the event is finally returning.

Since it has been going on since 1937, the competition has a long history. The BWF World Tour’s 12th competition will take place this year. The 2018 edition of the competition will include top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal, HS Prannoy, and Sameer Verma among others.

Men’s Singles

World No. 9 The sole qualified player from India is Lakshya Sen. Eighth seed is the 20-year-old. Lakshya will want to do well in Malaysia after a poor first-round exit at the Indonesia Open. The third section of the draw, which also includes World No. 3 Anders Antonsen, is where he gets drawn. In the opening round, Lakshya will compete against Heo Kwang-hee of South Korea. He’ll probably match up Andersen and him in the quarterfinals.

Kidambi Srikanth, the 11th-ranked player in the world, wants to atone for his Indonesia Open loss in the second round. He will play Thailand’s Sitthikom Thammasin in the opening round of this competition because he is an unseeded participant.

Sai Praneeth is also assigned to the same section as Srikanth. In the first round, Sai Praneeth will compete against Antony Sinisuka Ginting, the sixth seed. If the Indian succeeds in this match, he would probably meet Srikanth in the next round. World No. 1 Viktor Axelsen is also competing in this quarter.

HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma are in the same neighborhood. Prannoy, who advanced to the semifinals of the Indonesia Open, will face hometown favorite Liew Daren in the opening round of the Malaysia Open, while Sameer Verma will face seventh seed, Jonatha Cristie.

India’s top doubles team, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are the seventh seed in the men’s doubles competition. Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sukamuljo, the top seeds from Indonesia, are set to meet them in the quarterfinal.

Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy are the other Indian team competing in the competition. They will compete against Chinese players He Jiting and Zhou Haodong in the first round of the draws, which are in the third quarter. In the second round, they most likely come up against the third-seeded team of Mohamed Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan.

Women’s Singles

Global No. 7 PV The seventh seed, Sindhu, will compete in the competition. In the opening round, she will compete against Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand. Sindhu is attempting to bounce back after suffering a humbling loss in the opening round of the Indonesia Open. She is positioned in the same quarter as Tai Tzu-Ying, the second seed and the winner of the Indonesia Open.

The only other Indian singles player in the draw is Saina Nehwal. Saina skipped both the Indonesia Masters and the Indonesia Open in order to focus on getting ready for the Malaysia Open. She will start her campaign against Iris Wang of the USA. If she prevails in this match, Nozomi Okuhara, the sixth seed, is expected to be her opponent in the second round.

Women’s Doubles

Unseeded Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will play sixth-seeded Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida of Japan in the opening round of the women’s doubles competition.

The other Indian team, Haritha Harinarayanan and Ashna Roy will compete against South Korea’s unranked Jeong Na-Eun and Kim Hye-Jeong in the opening round. The third Indian pair, Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam open their campaign against Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara of Japan, the fifth seed.
