Jason Mraz, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, has proven that he can also shine on the dance floor. On Monday night, he and his partner Sharna Burgess delivered a stunning contemporary routine that earned them a perfect score of 40 from the judges and put them at the top of the leaderboard on ‘Dancing With The Stars’.

The duo danced to Mraz’s own song, “I Won’t Give Up”, which he dedicated to his wife Christina Carano. The emotional performance showcased their chemistry and Mraz’s impressive flexibility and strength. The judges praised Mraz for his vulnerability, expression, and technique.
“You are a natural dancer. You have grace, you have elegance, you have fluidity. You are a joy to watch,” said judge Carrie Ann Inaba.
“That was poetry in motion. You were so connected to the music, to your partner, to your emotions. You moved me,” said judge Derek Hough.
“That was a masterclass in contemporary dance. You had everything: lifts, spins, turns, extensions. You were like a professional dancer out there,” said judge Bruno Tonioli.
“You have a gift. You have a way of touching people’s hearts with your voice and now with your dancing. You are a star,” said judge Len Goodman.
Mraz and Burgess received a standing ovation from the audience and their fellow contestants. They also got the highest votes from the viewers, securing their spot in the next week’s semifinals.
Mraz thanked his partner, his wife, and his fans for their support and said that he was having the time of his life on the show.
“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to express myself in a different way and to learn from the best. Sharna is an amazing teacher and partner. She inspires me every day,” he said.
“I also want to thank my beautiful wife for being my rock and my muse. She is the reason I won’t give up on anything. And of course, I want to thank all the fans who voted for us and believed in us. You are the reason we are here,” he added.
Mraz and Burgess will face off against seven other couples in the semifinals, where they will have to perform two dances each. One of them will be a redemption dance, where they will have to improve on one of their previous routines. The other one will be a judges’ choice dance, where they will have to learn a new style assigned by one of the judges.
