The Eagles are an American rock band that was founded in 1971 in Los Angeles. The Eagles were one of the most successful musical bands in North America in the 1970s, with five number-one singles and six number-one albums, six Grammy Awards, and five American Music Awards. Linda Ronstadt recruited founding members Glenn Frey (guitars, vocals), Don Henley (drums, vocals), Bernie Leadon (guitars, vocals), and Randy Meisner (bass guitar, vocals) as band members, with some touring with her and all playing on her third solo album before going their own way on David Geffen’s new Asylum Records label.
After forming, the group quickly went into the studio to work on their self-titled debut, placing them on the map. Before disbanding in 1980, the band issued six tremendously successful albums.
They regrouped in 1994 and released ‘The Long Road Out Of Eden,’ their seventh and most latest album, in 2007. Since then, they’ve sold over 100 million records and won several prizes and accolades, including six Grammys and entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Eagles were announced as the main act for BST Hyde Park in June 2022, with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss providing support, and stadium gigs in Liverpool, Edinburgh, and Dublin in the lead-up to the event.

From country-tinged road ballads like “Lyin’ Eyes” to the south-of-the-border-influenced Platinum smash “Hotel California,” the iconic rock group originated in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, and a distinct Southwestern influence has characterized the Eagles’ rock style throughout the decades. The Eagles are one of the best-selling bands in the world, with more than 200 million albums sold worldwide, including 100 million in the United States alone. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, they were voted 75th on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Artists of All Time” list in 2004.
