Final Thoughts

Canadian-Punjabi hip hop singer Nav (full name: Navraj Goraya) rose to prominence after reality sensation Kylie Jenner released a video of herself singing “Myself” online.

Nav was born Navraj Singh Goraya in Toronto in 1989 and grew up in the adjacent suburb of Rexdale. He is a Canadian rapper and singer-songwriter of Punjabi-Indian origin. After his mother bought him a boombox for Christmas in third grade, he became interested in music. Soon after, his uncle took him to a recording studio. Nav began his music career as a high school student when he began writing and playing songs at underground venues around his hometown. It was on the music-sharing platform SoundCloud when word about him began to spread.

From 2015’s Take Me Simple, which Drake featured on his Beats 1 Radio program, to 2017’s Want To, featuring Lil Uzi Vert, via his self-titled debut album and a collaborative mixtape ‘Perfect Timing’ with Metro Booming, the artist has a series of songs under his belt. The Canadian label XO, with which the Weeknd is also affiliated, signed him recently.
