Interpol and Spoon will partner up for the “Lights, Camera, Factions” tour, which opens place Aug. 25 in Asbury Park, N.J., in a mid-2000s-style double bill. The Goon Sax, who are currently contracted to Matador Records, will be joining the two indie rock heavyweights on the road.
Interpol has completed production on its seventh studio album and promises that “new music will be available soon.” The unnamed sequel to 2018’s Marauders was produced by Flood and Alan Moulder. Since November 2019, Interpol hasn’t performed live. Buy Tickets From Here
Spoon will go on the road in promotion of Lucifer on the Sofa, the band’s most recent album, which debuted at number five on Billboard’s Top Alternative, Rock, and Independent Albums lists. On the AAA radio chart, the single “Wild” reached No. 6. Britt Daniel discussed the album’s creation with us earlier last month.
In addition to the new songs, Matador solidified its long-term partnership with Interpol and Spoon by acquiring their entire international catalogue rights in December 2020, as part of a transaction that also includes Pavement.
Both bands had scheduled gigs before “Lights, Camera, Factions.” Interpol’s tour kicks off on April 25 in Dallas and continues through June 19 at Holland’s Pinkpop festival, while Spoon will perform in Boston on April 6.
The tour begins on August 25 in Asbury Park at The Stone Pony Summer Stage and concludes on September 17 and 18 in Portland, OR’s Pioneer Square. For some performances, Metric and The Goon Sax will serve as openers.
After a performance in New Jersey, the group will travel to Toronto on Aug. 26 for a performance. They will then return to the United States to complete their tour throughout the Northeastern part of the country. On August 27, the bands will perform in Portland, Maine, followed by a gig in Providence, Rhode Island. Get Cheapest Tickets From Here
Spoon and Interpol will go to the southern portion of the country after a few shows in Ohio. On Sept. 2, Interpol will perform alone at The Eastern in Atlanta, and Spoon will join them the next night in Asheville, N.C. Spoon will then do a solo show on September 4 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
The bands will produce a small California engagement at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Sept. 14 after a series of Midwest appearances. After a day off, they’ll perform in Seattle’s Paramount Theatre before closing out the tour with a two-night stay at Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square on Sept. 17 and 18.
In November, the band told Rolling Stone that their new album is “very fucking different.”
Banks said of the new material, “It certainly feels like us.” “It’s our band’s heart and soul — it’s like our music has a DNA to it.”
“Another part of me thinks, ‘This might be completely different.'” Buy Tickets From Here
