In 1968, Led Zeppelin was formed in London. They went on to become one of the most influential rock bands of all time and are still touring today.
In 1969, they released their first album which included hits such as Whole Lotta Love and Black Dog. The band has had many line-up changes over the years but Jimmy Page remains the only original member left; he is also a producer for other artists including David Bowie, Def Leppard, and Bob Seger.
Their live performance at Madison Square Garden in 1975 is considered by some critics to be one of the greatest musical performances ever. The following year they embarked on a tour with renewed vigor after John Bonham’s death from alcohol-related issues earlier that year.
Theatre, one show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and three shows at the Royal Festival Hall in London. They played for well over 400 thousand people during this tour! On December 10th of 1977, they arrived to start their US tour which would last until February 20th, 1978 when they headlined two nights at Madison Square Garden. This tour included 33 concerts with an attendance of 2 million people.
