The Gipsy Kings, a flamenco rumba band including Tonino Baliardo, will embark on a massive 12-city tour of North America in the first quarter of 2023. Their Renaissance Tour starts on April 14 in Denver. It continues through May with visits to other U.S. cities like Albuquerque, Phoenix, San Diego, San Jose, Seattle, Newark, Boston, Atlanta, and Orlando. We’ll be performing in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. As of late, the band has been spending some of 2022 alongside co-founder Nicholas Reyes on stage for a few shows.
‘Savor Flamenco,’ the Gipsy Kings’ thirteenth studio album, was released through Knitting Factory on September 10, 2013. The CD tied with Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s “Live: Singing for Peace Around the World” for Best World Music Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. The band was formed by Nicolas Reyes (lead singer) and Tonino Baliardo (lead guitarist), who also happened to be the band’s original members. Both are cousins of the legendary flamenco guitarist Manitas de Plata and have been longtime members of the band. Other relatives have joined them over the years. Francois, Andre, Patchai, Pablo, Diego, and Paco Baliardo are Nicolas’s brothers. Chico Bouchikhi, Nicolas’s former brother-in-law, was also a band member.
