Dead & Company will go on tour for the last time in2023, after a memorable run. The Final Tour will begin on May 19 in Los Angeles and continue through July, making important stops in Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco, among other cities. Before the tour, frontman Bob Weir will be touring throughout America in the fall with his most recent Wolf Bros project with Jay Lane, Jeff Chimenti, and Don Was. This tour will take place before the time.

In addition to Bob Weir, the other members of Dead & Company are longtime Grateful Dead bandmates Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti. The band kicked up an ambitious winter tour across the United States earlier in 2018, which had to be delayed from 2017 owing to Mayer’s unexpected need for appendectomy surgery. After kicking out their career together in 2015 with two massive Halloween shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the supergroup spent the remainder of the year on an extensive tour across the United States.

The Band Feels Revitalized Thanks to Mayera

When John Mayer was filling in as a guest presenter on CBS’s The Late Show several years ago, he was first exposed to the Dead’s music for the first time. Mayer began listening to the band’s music due to having Weir as a guest on his show. On television, the pair portrayed Brown Eyed Woman together, which led to the formation of their partnership. Mayer has self-taught himself how to perform the complete back catalog of the Grateful Dead. As the band’s frontman, he has contributed his signature sound and distinctive voice to the music that has stood the test of time.

Who are the other members of the band Dead and Company?

Phil Lesh, a bassist for the Grateful Dead, is currently in a semi-retirement state. Hence he did not participate in Dead and Company. Oteil Burbridge, formerly the bassist for the Allman Brothers, has taken his place as the band’s new member. Vince Welnick, the final keyboardist to have performed with the Grateful Dead, has passed away. Jeff Chimenti, who has performed engagements with Weir and Lesh for years, has taken his place as his replacement for him. The music that Dead and Company create is exciting because of the way that they combine new and ancient elements.

Bottom Lines

Even though Jerry Garcia is no longer with us, the music of the Grateful Dead continues to be performed by Dead and Company. Fans may anticipate a virtually identical show, with the Dead’s 30-year concert schedule prominently included. John Mayer, a megastar in his own right, has replaced Jerry Garcia as the band’s lead guitarist and now collaborates on vocals with Bob Weir. Weir’s original drummers, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, have reformed the bar and are playing alongside Weir. Fans of Dead and Company may relive the last 30 years of the Grateful Dead through the timeless songs played by Dead and Company since the sound has not changed.
