Bottom Lines

Arctic Monkeys I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, the band’s breakthrough track, changed the face of English indie rock forever when it was released in 2005. Upon its initial release, the song went straight to the top of the U.K. Singles Chart, and its follow-up, When the Sun Goes Down, likewise reached the peak of that chart. The band’s first album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, became the quickest-selling debut album in the history of Britain as a direct result of the tremendous interest that these successful releases produced in the band’s first record. The garage punk album Favourite Worst Nightmare, which Arctic Monkeys released in 2007 and featured Fluorescent Adolescent, and the Gothic, industrial album Humbug, which they released in 2009, contributed to the band’s growing reputation. In 2013, they released the album AM, which includes the smash singles “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” and “Do I Wanna Know?”.

They received praise all over the world for their work. Their album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, released in 2018, brought an end to a hiatus that lasted for five years and signaled an exciting shift toward experimentation for the band by combining jazz lounge and space-pop elements. As one would expect, a massive globe tour and appearances at several festivals are part of the marketing campaign for the ground-breaking record.
