Alan Jackson is one of country music’s most successful singer-songwriters. For almost 20 years, the Grand Ole Opry member has been a fan favorite, while remaining loyal to his classic country origins. Alan Jackson’s long-awaited album Where Have You Gone was released in 2021. After Angels and Alcohol in 2015, it was his first full-length album in six years. Alan Jackson’s Last Call: One More for the Road Tour is currently on the road. While the tour’s announcement does not explicitly state that it would be Jackson’s final tour before retirement, the name of the tour suggests it.

Biography

Jackson was born in Newnan, Georgia. He has four older sisters.  His family and he shared a modest house constructed around his grandfather’s old storage shed. The family has a strong English heritage. His mother remained in the house until January 7, 2017, when she died. In 1983, he began creating music. Jackson grew up listening to church music until he was discovered to Gene Watson, John Anderson, and Hank Williams Jr. by a buddy. Jackson went to Elm Street Elementary and Newnan High School, and after graduation, he entered the band Dixie Steel.

Jackson and his six-year-old wife, Denise, moved from Newnan to Nashville, Tennessee, when he was 27 years old, with the aim of pursuing music full-time. In 1987, Jackson produced New Traditional in Hendersonville, Tennessee, but it is extremely rare and was only released in Japan.

Denise Jackson published a book about her life with Jackson, their romance, their divorce over his adultery and recommitment to each other, and her devotion to Christianity that topped The New York Times Best Seller list. In 2007, the book It’s All About Him: Finding the Love of My Life was released. She published The Road Home, a gift book, in May 2008. Adam Wright, Jackson’s nephew, is a country music singer-songwriter. The Wrights, Adam and his wife Shannon, are a husband and wife combination. On Michael Jackson’s What I Do album, the Wrights co-wrote two tracks and contributed harmony vocals.

Jackson revealed he had Charcot–Marie–Tooth illness in a 2021 interview on The Today Show, saying, “…it’s been bothering me for years.” And it’s becoming increasingly clear. I’m also aware that I’m bumbling about on stage. And now, even in front of the microphone, I’m having some difficulty balancing, and I’m feeling extremely uneasy.
